WEST10, PART OF THE BDS GROUP
Since its foundation in 2005, West10 Entertainment has earned its place at the forefront of metadata use, presentation and management through continuous research, innovation and quality of content, allied to flexibility of service and responsiveness towards customers.
West10 Entertainment is part of the BDS Group of companies. The BDS Group also comprises Bibliographic Data Services Limited (BDS), Weesleekit Limited and Ehaus Limited.
West10 expanded the Group offering to include metadata for film, music CD and video games. It now addresses digital as well as physical content and supplies its metadata to the High Street, e-tailers, trade bodies, charities and government agencies.
West 10 Entertainment is currently engaged in a project to establish a pan-European metadata standard for Home Entertainment media and the use of second screen technology for which it was selected due to its in-depth understanding of the requirements and structure of metadata standards.
THE BDS GROUP
A creative and powerful combination, the BDS Group offers information-rich metadata on books and home entertainment releases, comprehensive design, web development and web maintenance services. The BDS Group sells to retailers, e-tailers, publishers, libraries, charities and government bodies.
Founded in 1995 by Lesley Whyte and Eric Green, Bibliographic Data Services Limited quickly established itself as the foremost supplier of quality metadata to libraries. BDS has held the British Library Catalogue in Publication (CIP) Programme contract since 1995 which means BDS has been responsible for the British National Bibliography (BNB) for twenty years. It is at the forefront of the implementation of the new RDA standard for libraries in the UK while it has also expanded the possibilities of the library catalogue by generating ever richer extended content.
In 2005, BDS created West10 Entertainment to address the commercial Home Entertainment sector and in 2010 it acquired Weesleekit Limited, an award winning design studio which complemented its earlier acquisition of London-based Ehaus Limited, a web services company. These companies that complete the BDS Group, have been responsible for the build and look of many internet related products and services, including BDS’s flagship product BDSLive. Each company operates independently for clients in the UK and further afield.
